There are a few reasons why you might need to acquire a proof of residency certificate in Thailand. This certificate is also known as a "proof of address letter". You can get the proof of residency certificate from participating immigration centers in Thailand.
Two of the most common reasons for needing the certificate is when you are applying for a Thai drivers license or opening a Thai bank account in your name.

Proof of Residence Certificate

The proof of address letter, "Residence Certificate" costs 300 baht.
The validity period of a "Residence Certificate " is usually 30 days.
At Pattaya Immigration office in Jomtien the proof of address letter ("Residence Certificate") can be obtained the same day that you apply for it. Sometimes it takes only 20 to 30 minutes to process
the "Residence Certificate" after you present all the correct documents.
However sometimes when they are very busy you might lodge your papers in the morning and Immigration will request that you return to pick up your document later that afternoon.
The duration could be longer say "come back next day" if you use some other immigration office in another Provence.
NOTE: if you submit your form late in the afternoon you might be told to pick up the letter / certificate the next day.
